5th Annual Tybee Island Wine Festival

Tybee Island Wine Festival

Tickets are now available for the 5th annual Tybee Island Wine Festival, five days of fun-filled events offering something for everyone!  It all starts Wednesday, April 10, 2013 and continues through Sunday, April 14. Hosted by the Tybee Post Theater, this annual event gets better each year.  Tybee Island is the perfect setting for the Wine Festival with the spectacular surroundings, warm spring air, and picturesque views.  Oh yeah, don’t forget to visit the beach while you’re here!

The fun begins at The Tybee Island Social Club and Quality Wine & Spirits, just minutes from the 17th Street Inn, kicking off with “Wining and Dining – “The Art of Pairing”. Because this part of the Wine Festival is limited, it is already sold out. Don’t worry though, there’s plenty of fun to be had the remaining 4 days, starting with Seafood School – “Seafood Treasures from the Golden Isles”. It starts at 11:30am at the Tybee Lite Shrine Club, 1 Meddin Avenue, and you can watch, learn, ask questions and sample five scrumptious seafood dishes and experience five fabulous culinary demonstrations!

The next event during the Wine Festival is “An Evening of Oysters and Wine”. Held from 6:30pm-8:30pm on Friday, April 12 at Marlin Monroe’s Surfside Grill, 404 Butler Avenue, the world will be your oyster, served a variety of scrumptious ways:

  •     Classic Oysters on the 1/2 shell – served raw and steamed
  •     Fannie’s famous Oysters Rockafannie
  •     Tiger Oysters – lightly breaded and fried, served over tiger sauce with and topped with a remoulade
  •     Grilled Oysters, on the 1/2 shell in garlic butter with fresh parmesan and chive
  •     Confetti Oysters – topped with fontina cheese, applewood bacon and tri colored pepper confetti
  •     Bonnie’s Marinated Oysters! – Ceviche style!

Along with oysters there will be an array of perfectly matched wines, all designed to complement your oyster feast!  There will also be live music featuring Briar Rose!

The Tybee Island Wine Festival continues with its signature event on Saturday, April 13, from 3pm-6pm with the “Grand Wine Tasting” at the Tybee Island Lighthouse Grounds, 30 Meddin Drive and will featuring samplings of international wine, craft beers, and food from some of the favorite eateries on Tybee Island and nearby areas.  This event also features live music by Betsy Kingston & the Crowns and Georgia Kyle!

The weekend closes with an extraordinary champagne tasting and sit-down brunch at the Crab Shack, 40 Estill Hammock Road, on Sunday, April 14, from 12:30pm-2:30pm.  Feast on a scrumptious buffet of homemade delights, including: scrambled eggs; grits; deviled crab bites; bagels with salmon, cream cheese, capers and red onion; country ham; chipped pork sliders; a beef round carving station; Bahamian mac & cheese; and more! Come hungry and be sure to save room for an assortment of mouth-watering fruit and chocolate desserts!

Tickets can be purchased for each of the Wine Festival’s events on-line.
