4th Annual Tybee Island Wine Festival

Tickets are now available for the 4th annual Tybee Island Wine Festival, four days of fun-filled events offering something for everyone!  It all starts Thursday, April 12, 2012 and continues through Sunday, April 15.  Hosted by the Tybee Post Theater, this annual event gets better each year.  Tybee Island is the perfect setting for the Wine Festival with the spectacular surroundings, warm spring air, and picturesque views.  Oh yeah, don’t forget to visit the beach while you’re here!

The fun begins just seven minutes from the 17th Street Inn, kicking off with “Seafood School From Daufuskie to Tybee”.  Because this part of the Wine Festival is limited to 50 guests, it is already sold out.  Don’t worry though, there’s plenty of fun to be had the remaining 3 days, starting with “An Evening of Oysters and Wine”.  Held from 6pm-8pm at Marlin Monroe’s Surfside Grill, 404 Butler Avenue, the world will be your oyster, served a variety of scrumptious ways:

  •     Classic Oysters on the 1/2 shell – served raw and steamed
  •     Fannie’s famous Oysters Rockafannie
  •     Tiger Oysters – lightly breaded and fried, served over tiger sauce with and topped with a remoulade
  •     Grilled Oysters, on the 1/2 shell in garlic butter with fresh parmesan and chive
  •     Confetti Oysters – topped with fontina cheese, applewood bacon and tri colored pepper confetti
  •     Bonnie’s Marinated Oysters! – Ceviche style!

Along with oysters there will be an array of perfectly matched wines, all designed to complement your oyster feast!  There will also be music, dancing, and a live auction where some lucky bidder will win a stay at an exclusive, luxurious Costa Rica villa.

The Tybee Island Wine Festival continues with its signature event on Saturday from 2pm-5pm with the “Grand Wine Tasting” at the Tybee Island Lighthouse Grounds, 30 Meddin Drive and will featuring samplings of international wine, craft beers, and food from some of the favorite eateries on Tybee Island and nearby areas.  This event also features live music by Julie Wilde & The Bohemian Dream Band and Marshall, Tanner & Gill, as well as a silent auction and a limited edition 2012 Tybee Wine Festival glass.

The weekend closes with an extraordinary champagne tasting and sit-down brunch, surrounded by the fresh air and breezes of the Atlantic Ocean.  Champagne tasting will begin at 12:30pm at the Tybee Lite Shrine Club and brunch, including mimosa and dessert bars, will be served at 1:00pm.  This event will also feature live music by Alberto Puentes.  Tickets can be purchased for each of the Wine Festival’s events on-line.
