5 Tips to Enjoy Holiday Travel to the Tybee Island area, Ga

With the holiday just around the corner, so many people will be traveling to friends and families homes to celebrate Christmas and enjoy time with people they may see but once a year.  Tybee Island, Ga is stunningly beautiful at this time of year, with homes, parks, and city streets decorated for the holidays.  Make this year’s travel as safe and enjoyable as possible.

1. Travel With Food and Water
Even though you may be traveling to reach get to a large feast, it is important to remember that you never know what kinds of holiday traffic could hold you up.  Always travel with at least 2 bottles of water per person in addition to sustainable travel foods.

2. Travel Early or Late
Most holiday traveling is done between 9am and 12p.  Plan to do your traveling early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid most other travelers and potential traffic hold ups.

3. Travel Prepared for Anything
Even taking every precaution to travel safely and stress free, you should always travel with emergency items like:

  • Blankets
  • First aid kit
  • List of emergency contacts
  • Map of the area
  • Food
  • Water

4. Keep Children Occupied
Traveling with children can be stressful, especially if going long distances.  Surprising them with a new toy or game is a perfect way to set them at ease and keep them occupied.  If you vehicle has a dvd player, a new movie will be sure to keep their attention for at least a little while!

5. Budget Friendly Travel

  • By bringing your own food to snack on or have in case of emergency, you will be able to avoid the temptation to buy overpriced food items from gas stations or rest stops.
  • Don’t overpack your car because the heavier it is, the more gas will be consumed during travel.
  • If possible, map out the places you will need to fuel up.  Many cell phones provide apps that help you locate the best gas prices in the area.
  • If you have a choice in the vehicle you will use, opt for the more fuel efficient one, allowing you to travel further on less gas.
